Ann Young Bonfield, 99, of N. Sycamore Street, Mt. Sterling, Kentucky passed away Sunday, December 12, 2021 at the St. Joseph-Mt. Sterling Hospital. She was born in Winchester, Kentucky on August 4, 1922 the daughter of the late O. F. and Bessie Watts Young. She was the retired City Clerk for the City of Mt. Sterling after serving 34 years. She was the oldest living member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church, a member of the American Legion Post # 22 Auxillary, a member of both the Mary Chiles Hospital Auxillary and the St. Joseph Hospital Volunteer Guild having served for many years and the Women's Club where she was recognized as Mother of the Year in 1958. She was the widow of James Dennis Bonfield.
She is survived by four children, Mimi (Chuck) Leppert of Louisville, KY, Mikey (Lonnie) Skerchock of Burlington, KY, Jan Karsner of Mt. Sterling, KY and Jim (Peggy) Bonfield of Mt. Sterling; ten grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren also survive.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Kathy Bonfield and Patricia White; four brothers, O. F. Young, Burns Young, Beatty Young and Bobby Young; three sisters, Susan Talbott, Claire Carter and Katherine Young; one grandchild, Mark Lockwood; and one great grandchild, Sidney Ruth Pung.
Funeral Mass will be 10 AM, Thursday, December 16, 2021 at the St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Frank Brawner officiating and burial folllowing in the St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit Wednesday from 6-8 pm at the Taul Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Ben Pyles, Davis Pyles, Ryan Pyles, Ward Kanour, Jim McDonald and Bud Lane. In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Mt. Sterling.
