Bill Ross, Jr., of Prewitt Pike, Mt. Sterling, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at the Veterans Administration Hospital-Cooper Drive in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born on January 22, 1932 in Chavies, Kentucky the son of the late Willie and Carrie Asher Ross. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp having served in the Korean War where he earned the purple heart. He owned and operated Cornett's Restaurant on the river at Boonesboro, a man's styling salon and barber shop in Ohio, was a butcher, railroad worker and a Correctional Officer for the State of Kentucky. He was worked for the Kentucky Department of Transportation. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Mt. Sterling, the Optimist Club in Ohio, Ducks Unlimited and the American Legion. He also was a member of the Farmer's and Banker's Tour from Winchester and had a deep love for his flowers and hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Kotte Ross of Mt. Sterling; a son, William Ross of Mt. Sterling; a daughter, Deborah J. Ross of Prescott Valley, AZ; a sister, Ima Jean Cornett of Englewood, OH; two grandchildren, Amy Ross Wiede of Georgetown, Texas and William Joseph Ross, II of Lexington, KY; and two great grandchildren, Minka Wiede and Madeline Wiede both of Georgetown, TX.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Wendell Glenn Ross and four brothers and sisters, Pearl Cornett, Evangline Watkins, Wallace Ross and Dan Ross.
Memorial services will be at 4 PM, Monday, March 14, 2022 at the First Christian Church with Rev. Scott Holley officiating. Friends can visit Monday from 3 pm - 4 pm at the First Christian Church. Military rites will be performed by American Legion Post # 22. In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to the First Christian Church, 222 W. Main St., Mt. Sterling, Kentucky 40353. Taul Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.
