It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Billy Joe Hensley, 56, of Frenchburg KY on July 25, 2026. Our sweet daddy unexpectedly left this world surrounded by his children, grandchild, and loving wife. He was born on August 4, 1969 in Breathitt County KY to James and Reva Hensley. He was the loving son in law to Harlan and Nell Ratliff of Wellington, KY.

He left behind his loving wife, Zanna Hensley. They have been married 36 years and had 36 wonderful years of memories. Billy was the proud father of Fancy-Brandi Hensley-Botts (Caleb), Billy Ray Hensley (Brianna), and Zachary-James Hensley.

He was the proud grandfather to 11 grandbabies, Raylan-Joe, Skyler Ray, Zayley-Kade, Sailor LeAnne, Grayson-David, JoyOnna-Rose, Tyson Marcus, Riley Da’Vera Kay, Harper Ann, Oliver Blake and Penelope Ruth.

Our Dad worked hard for 38 years driving an 18-wheeler and dump truck to provide everything and anything we could have ever wanted and needed. He always put his family before himself. Always was surrounded and wanted to be surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He loved to hear the laugh they carried through the house and in the holler.

Billy had 2 brothers, James Jonathon Hensley and Robert Hensley. He had 1 sister, Elizabeth Sands. He had 2 sisters-in-law, that became sisters, Dianna & (Keith) Damron and Kay Eichstadt. 2 brothers-in-law, who became brothers, Johnny Ratliff and Steve Ratliff.

Our husband/Daddy will have his services at Taul Funeral Home in Mount Sterling KY on Thursday July 30, 2026 at 1pm. Visitation will start at 11am, with Brother Eugene Smith officiating and Brother James Bryant will be speaking at graveside. Pallbearers will be Steve Ratliff, Darrick Hensley, Taylor Hensley, Eugene Smith, James (Bug) Bryant, Phillip Bryant. Honorary Pallbearers will be Andrew Sword, Johnny Sword and Mark Simpson. Family is asking to come dressed as you are but please wear Blue, HE LOVED UK basketball so bring your best UK wear and join us in the celebration of life of our sweet daddy.
