Byron B. Benham, 75, of Garden Springs Dr., Mt. Sterling, Kentucky passed away Thursday, December 30, 2021 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. He was born in Salem, Indiana on March 13, 1946 the son of the late Carl Benham and the late Jessie L. Wilson Jones. He was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church and he was a former National Programs Director for Green Thumb, Inc. headquartered in Washington, D.C., under the sponsorship of National Farmers' Union. Responsibilities included administration of 26 states and Puerto Rico and D.C. He was also a Kentucky Colonel.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Cassidy Benham of Mt. Sterling; three sons, Ryan (Marina) Benham of Mt. Sterling, KY, Andrew (Kelly) Morrison of Louisville, KY and Scott Benham of Salem, IN; three daughters, Heather McGuire of Lexington, KY, Rebecca (Mark) McDaniel of Lexington, KY and Greta Morrison of Mt. Sterling, KY; three brothers, Timothy Benham of Georgetown, IN, Douglas Hall (Sarah) of Ocala, FL and Robert Hall of Petaluma, CA; two sisters, Carletta McKinney of Salem, IN and Lawanna (Steve) Schneck of Little York, IN; seven grandchildren, Emma Morrison, Luke Morrison, Grace Morrison, Mariah Benham, Jacob Benham, Jerrod McGuire, and Addam Hughes; and one great grandchild, Lilly Hughes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Kaywood Jones; two brothers, Larry Benham and Gary Benham, and a sister, Shirley Godfrey.
A Funeral Mass will be at 2 PM, Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at the St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Frank Brawner officiating and burial following in the St. Thomas Cemetery. Rosary will be held 1:30 PM before Mass. Pallbearers will be C.J. Bonaccorso, James Hicks, Mark McDaniel, Jim McGuire, Val Morris and Travis Royse. In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to the God's Food Pantry of Mt. Sterling.
