Carolyn Bennett Oaks, 82, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2020 at her residence. She was born December 1, 1937 to the late Herman and Dorothy Bennett.  She was a loving, family-oriented person.  Her family and her two dogs, Riley and Tanner, were the most important things to her.  Carolyn worked several years at Mary Chiles Hospital and Walmart.  She was a past member of Montgomery County Homemakers, a former Sunday School teacher at Antioch Christian Church and a current member of Gateway Christian Church.  She enjoyed sewing, crafting, painting and working puzzles.

She is survived by her son, Steve Oaks (Tammy) of Mt. Sterling, KY; three daughters, Karen Short (Gary) of Mt. Sterling, KY, Cindy Howard (Anthony) of Mt. Sterling, KY and Lisa Kilgore (Bill) of Mt. Sterling, KY; two brothers, Donnie Bennett (Peggy) of Sierra Vista, AZ and Jeff Bennett (Jamie) of Sierra Vista, AZ; three sisters, Patty Stephenson of Dewitt, IA and Shelia Fleischer (David) of Cincinnati, OH and Debbie Carpenter of Lexington, KY; seven grandchildren, Melody Setters (Brent), Matthew Conley, Jesse Howard (Amber), Casey Howard, Nick Howard, Candice Kimsey (Scott) and Brandi Haddix; one granddaughter-in-law, Joy Short; twenty-one great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Yaundell Oaks; one brother, Jerry Bennett; one grandson, Chris Short and one brother-in-law, Gilbert Stephenson.

A private family service will be held.  Pallbearers will be Garrett Short, Patrick Setters, Jesse Howard, Casey Howard, Ben Short, Matthew Conley and Jordan Haddix.  Honorary pallbearers will be Nick Howard, Gary Short, Bill Kilgore and Anthony Howard. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Gateway Christian Church, PO Box 1069, Mt. Sterling, KY 40353.
