Obituary

Charles Richard "Dick" Fuller, 81 passed away June 30, 2022 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.  He was the son of the late Charles Von and Opal Fuller and spent the first years of his life in Kenova, West Virginia.  Mount Sterling, Kentucky was his home for over 70 years.

An accomplished athlete, Dick played football, basketball and baseball for the mighty Mt. Sterling Trojans.  He continued to excel in athletics at Georgetown College where he was a star in football and track.  Dick is a member of the 2011 class of the Georgetown College Athletic Hall of Fame.  While in college, Dick was a proud member of the Kappa Alpha Order.

Dick was married to the love of his life Nancy Barret (Prewitt) Fuller for nearly 57 years.  The two were the epitome of best friends and perfect partners.  They have two children, Richard (Melodie) Fuller and Mary Beth (James) Manning.  He was adored by his five grandchildren Caswell Fuller, Luke Fuller, Mason Manning, Clara Manning and Miranda Manning.  In addition to these, he is survived by his beloved sister Betty Von (Bill) Ledford and many special nieces and nephews.

While working for Hobart Manufacturing, Dick served in the US Army Reserve.   Later, he worked for Caswell Prewitt Realty and in the banking industry; including service on the Traditional Bank Board of Directors.  Dick was a very active member of the Montgomery County and Mt. Sterling community.  He coached and officiated youth sports for many years.  He is the past president of the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce and the Mt. Sterling Rotary Club.   He was named a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary club for his outstanding leadership.  Additionally, Dick used his outgoing personality and friendly charm as he served on the Industrial Authority Board and the Mt. Sterling/Montgomery County Airport Board.

Dick loved his church family at First Baptist Church, Mt. Sterling.   He served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years as well as volunteering his time and talents on many committees.

A fan of all sports, Dick loved to watch his children and grandchildren compete on the athletic fields.  On any given night you could find him supporting young athletes in all Montgomery County sports.  Dick was also an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing.  He was blessed to play golf until the week of his passing.  Dick was the rare fellow that could get along with everyone and had friends from all walks of life.
