Obituary

Charles Terrell Geiger, 69, passed away April 5, 2023, at the UK Chandler medical center. He was born November 19, 1953, to the late Jerry and Barbara Geiger in Fort Hood Texas. He was a native Texan but made Kentucky his second home so he could be close to his grandchildren.  Charlie was a veteran of the US Army and a member of the Petrochemical Industry in Houston, Texas for over 30 years where he was loved and respected and served as a mentor to many. He retired in 2018 after a long career as Vice President for PetroChem Inspection Service.

Charlie was larger than life. He brightened the world with his wit, kindness, humor, and generosity. He never met a stranger and had so many friends. When you were Charlie's friend, it was a for life.  He never forgot you.

The sign on his desk read "Integrity is doing the right thing when nobody's watching".  He lived by example.

He is survived by the love of his life, Sharon Sue, his wife of 27 years.  Daughters Katelyn Geiger of Scottsdale Arizona, Beth Smith of Mt Sterling and husband Tim (his favorite son-in-law), and Julie Howard of Mt Sterling. Grandsons Zach Smith (Katie Lane) of Carlsbad California, Garret Smith of Gilbert Arizona, Mason Howard and Nick Howard of Mt Sterling. Siblings Darrell Geiger (Denia) of San Antonio Texas, Sister Cynthia McDermott, sister-in-law Lillian Youngblood, and many nieces and nephews.   Snow Boo his beloved cat and his adopted dog Coco.  Waiting on the other side are his siblings Bill Youngblood, Linda Youngblood, and Patricia Sauls.

While Charlie loved fishing, golf, UK sports, especially the UK women's softball team (which he followed obsessively) his true passion was music. He was a "Blues man". He loved live venues, attending 3 concerts just last month.  More than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 11 at 2 o'clock at the Taul Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. Reception and fellowship to follow at the Smith home , 1363 Clubhouse Lane, Mt Sterling, Kentucky.   A separate service to be held in Texas at a later date.
