Chenault
Woodford
Apr 14, 1935 — Jul 6, 2023
Chenault (Chenny) Woodford died at home on July 6, 2023, after a long illness.
Chenny was born on April 14, 1935, and lived most of his life in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. He was a graduate of Mt. Sterling public school system and the University of Kentucky, from which he received a degree in engineering and architecture.
Following college, Chenny served four years on active duty as an officer with U.S. Air Force. Following his active duty, Chenny remained in the Air Force Reserves, before being honorably discharged with the rank of Captain.
Chenault Woodford was one of the founding members of Chrisman, Miller & Wallace, and later Director of Operations, Director of Equine and Justice Divisions, and finally President and Chairman of the Board of Chrisman, Miller & Woodford (CMW).
Although Chenny "retired" in 2006, he continued to be involved in projects and consultations until only a few months before his death. He loved the practice of architecture and reveled in sharing his strengths and talents with younger members of the firm.
Aside from this formal employment, he served as a Director and Director Emeritus of Traditional Bank, as a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Mt. Sterling-Montgomery County Airport Board and the Mt. Sterling City Council.
Chenny was an avid and highly successful fisherman, and traveled widely throughout North-and South-America in pursuit of this avocation, along with his fellow fisherman, Terry McBrayer, Joe Mainous, Howard Wiles, and Wendell Jones and numerous other "cronies". It can be said without the slightest degree of false adulation that fish on two continents trembled at the very mention of his name.
Those who knew Chenny best found him to be an excellent conversationalist and superb raconteur, whose supply of stories, tales, and anecdotes was endless and vastly amusing. His view of history, theology, and current events was always worthy of attention and respect, regardless of agreement or disagreement.
Chenny is survived by his wife, Donna, his son, William Anderson Woodford, his stepson, Brian Glover (Rae Lyn Glover), and his granddaughter and the apple of his eye, Grace Glover. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ann Morgan Woodford.
Services will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Mt. Sterling, Kentucky on Saturday, July 15, at 3:00 PM, with visitation at the church beginning at 1:00 PM preceding the service.
Those wishing to do so may make contributions in Chenny's memory to First Presbyterian Church or any Humane Society.
