David Allen Sias, 74, of Ona, WV, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2024, at his residence. David was born on January 2, 1950, in Hamlin, WV; son of the late Eugene Chafin and Ina Mae Sias. David was a 1967 graduate of Hamlin High School and a veteran of the Vietnam war where he proudly served with the 235th Aviation Company near Can Tho. He retired from the Sheet Metal Local 98, and Sheet Metal International Local 24. David enjoyed playing poker with his friends where he was a member of the American Legion Post 111 in Hamlin, WV. He was also a member of the Minerva Lodge #13 of Barboursville, WV, and Disabled American Veterans. David enjoyed going to the beach with his family, playing in the ocean with his grandchildren and helping the boys build sandcastles while also going out for ice cream. He did not know a stranger and would always go out of his way to help anyone in need. David is survived by his wife, Betty, of 49 years, one daughter of Carmel, Indiana, Jaime (Andy) Byerly, one son of Louisville, KY, Corey (Faith) Sias, and two grandchildren: Carter Byerly and Clayton Byerly. Graveside services will be 12 PM, Wednesday, April 24, 2024 with Pastor Bill Kilgore conducting services at Machpelah Cemetery in Mt. Sterling, KY.  In lieu of flowers, donations are quested to be made to the American Parkinson's Disease Association and Alzheimer's Association.
