Obituary

With heavy hearts and countless cherished memories, we announce the passing of David Stephens, a beloved father, son, and friend whose larger-than-life personality filled every room he entered.  He was born August 26, 1975 in Lexington, KY to Charlie and Phyllis Stephens of Mt. Sterling, KY.  David was known for being funny and loud in the very best way — the kind of person whose laugh was contagious and whose presence you could never miss. He was goofy, stubborn, and hard-headed at times, but that same determination was part of what made him so dependable and strong. If David believed in something, he stood by it with his whole heart. A true perfectionist and naturally mechanically inclined, David could fix just about anything.

Whether it had wheels, an engine, or a problem no one else could figure out, he'd roll up his sleeves and get it done. He took pride in working with his hands and helping his friends when something needed repairing. He found freedom on the open road, riding his Harley with the wind in his face and not a care in the world. Riding wasn't just something he did — it was who he was. He also loved nature and the outdoors, feeling most at peace surrounded by fresh air, open skies and country roads. David leaves behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, and memories that will be treasured forever by all who knew him.

Though he may no longer ride beside us, his spirit will forever live on in the rumble of a Harley engine, the beauty of the outdoors, and the laughter he brought to so many lives.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by sons, Tanner Sorrell (Macey) of Mt. Sterling, KY and Keagan Stephens of Jeffersonville, KY; daughters, Morgan Wilson (Kevin) of Mt. Sterling, KY and Addison Stephens of Jeffersonville, KY; sister, Kristy Whitaker (Bobby) of Mt. Sterling, KY; and grandchildren, Gregory Sorrell, Charlee Jo Sorrell, Grayson Ray Wilson and Cayson Gregory Wilson.

He was preceded in death by a nephew, Thomas Jay Brown.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Friday, January 23, 2026 at Taul Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Joey Rogers officiating, burial following at Machpelah Cemetery.  Visitation will be held 12-2 PM, Friday, January 23, 2026 at Taul Funeral Home Chapel.  Pallbearers will be Tyler Brown, Cooper Brown, Chris Arnett, Chuck James, Jason Martin and Chris Colliver.

Ride free, David. You will always be loved and never forgotten.
