Obituary

Erma Jean Nickles Harvey of Jeffersonville died Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at St. Joseph Hospital-Mt. Sterling, KY.

She was born June 22, 1933 in Knott County, KY the daughter of the late Kelly and Ada Slone Nickles.  She was baptized and member of the Baptist Faith.  She moved with her family at a young age to Montgomery County, where she graduated from Camargo High School in 1950 and continued her education at Morehead State University and started her 31-year teaching career at the Old Hope School and ended at North Middletown Elementary where she taught third grade.  After her retirement in 1992 she enjoyed craft making, collecting and traveling with her husband to Florida where they stayed most winters at their vacation home.

Survivors included her three children, Anthony "Tony" Harvey (Sue), Terri Harvey Hay (Robbie) and Ricky D. Harvey (Vicki); eleven grandchildren, Sabrina, Stacey, Jordan, Megan, Brandon, Brittany, Adam, Tori, Kelli, Cody and Tyler; thirteen great grandchildren, a sister Pauline Fitzpatrick; sister-in-law, Leatha Stidham; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Lee Harvey; three brothers, Hawley Nickles, Homer Nickles and Herman Nickles; three sisters, Genevea McCarty, Verdelee Pratt and Irene Thacker.

A graveside service will be held 11 AM, Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Oldfield Cemetery with Pastor Steve Creech officiating.  Pallbearers will be Cody Harvey, Tyler Harvey, Brandon Hay, Adam Hay and Jordan Harvey.  Taul Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.
