Obituary

Ernest "Ernie" Brown, age 90 of Frenchburg, Kentucky passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 27, 2024. He was born March 3, 1934, in Menifee County Kentucky, to the late James and Janet (Jenny) Brown. Ernie met and married the love of his life Kathy on July 16, 1960 and she preceded him in death.

Ernie was one of 10 children and is also preceded in death by three brothers, Fairis Brown, James (Junior) Brown, Raymond Brown; and three sisters, Lavern Burnett, Phyllis Brown and Ruby Deloris (Dody) Woodward.

Ernie was a devoted and loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Deborah (Marc) Hoffman of Blacklick, Ohio; grandson, Christopher (Erica) Hoffman of Lebanon, Tennessee; granddaughter, Casaundra (Luke) Wilcome of Ledyard Connecticut; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary (Ronald) Nickell of Spout Springs, VA and Imogene (Melvin) Kidd of Carlisle, OH; one brother, Edward (Teddy) Brown of Middletown, OH; and countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will all greatly miss him.

Ernie was a gifted and talented carpenter who could build almost anything! He used his talents at the W.P.  Baker & Sons Building & Investment Company. He worked there for 35 years while living in Reynoldsburg, OH and built homes all over the greater Central Ohio area.

Ernie's first love was always the Lord and the church. He and Kathy were founding members of Reynoldsburg Freewill Baptist Church where he was a Deacon. He also sang with two quartets, drove the church van to pick up kids for Sunday school, played softball, mowed grass and also was a youth leader for a time. He and Kathy served together there faithfully until they retired and moved back to Kentucky in 2002.

After retirement Ernie dedicated his time to his many passions. He and Kathy spent their days traveling around the country, going to gospel concerts, gardening, growing flowers, woodworking, serving at Bethel Baptist church in Frenchburg KY and spending time with family and friends.

Family and friends will be received for a celebration of life service at Taul Funeral Home Chapel in Frenchburg KY on July 2nd 2024 at 12:00 PM, with Pastor Tim Rhodes officiating. Visitation for family will be at 10:00 with public visitation at 11:00.  Burial will follow at Egelston Cemetery. Pallpearers will be Chris Hoffman, Glen Mullins, Forrest "Bimbo" Mullins, Corey Andrews, William Wren and Terry Helton.

A reception will be held at Bethel Baptist Church in Frenchburg KY.
