Floyd Jack Ison, 86, of W. High Street, Mt. Sterling, Kentucky passed away Thursday, February 17, 2022 at the St. Joseph- Mt. Sterling Hospital.  He was born in Letcher County, Kentucky on October 8, 1935 the son of the late Floyd J. and Lettie Jane Hammonds Ison.  He was a retired farmer and Independent Insurance Agent of over 50 years, a graduate of Georgetown College, a US Army veteran and a member of the First Baptist Church in Mt. Sterling.   He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and the Montgomery County Cattleman's Association and numerous other Cattle Associations.  He was a deacon at the First Baptist Church, a Kentucky Colonel and the Jaycee's.

He is survived by his wife, Glenna Walker Ison of Mt. Sterling, KY; two sons, Floyd Jack (Carey Jane) Ison, Jr. of Marietta, GA and Joshua Noel Ison of Mt. Sterling; a daughter, Sara Ison of Lexington, KY; three grandchildren, May Elizabeth Ison, Floyd Jack Ison, III and Reed Noel Ison; two nieces, Lettie Lou Davis and Donna Jane Ison and a nephew, Donnie Ison.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Emerson Ison and William Noel Ison.

Funeral services will be 12 Noon, Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at the Taul Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Sterling with Rev. Chris Wells officiating and burial following in the Machpelah Cemetery.  Friends may visit Tuesday from 10 am - 12 pm at the Taul Funeral Home.  Pallbearers will be Matthew Walker, Kent Barber, Starkey Ray, Ray Robertson, Tad Prewitt, Luis Monsavious, Doyle King and Keith Walker.  Honorary pallbearers Donnie Ison, Clatis Walker, Dave and Linda Fall, Eric Hammond, Jonathan Waddell, Lance Hammond, Ross Melton, Lorin Mullins, Don Ensor, Bob Ovington, Miller Hoffman, Tom Prewitt, Bill and Lucille Hardin, Lloyd "Moon" Cassidy, Jake Hartgrove and Tony Sapp.  In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to the First Baptist Church in Mt. Sterling.  Military Rites will be performed by American Legion Post 22 Montgomery County.
