Gary L. Reed, 72, of Spring Valley Drive, Erlanger, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Florence Park in Florence, Kentucky.  He was born in Covington, Kentucky on July 30, 1948 the son of the late Homer and Elizabeth Chenault Reed.  He was a 1966 graduate of Menifee County High School, Eastern Kentucky University Class of 1970, and learned carpentry for 3 years at the Montgomery County Vocational School.  He served in the US Army from 1971-1973 obtaining the rank of Captain.  He worked at the Frenchburg Job Corp from 1979 until his retirement.  He was a history buff having a large collection of books and collectibles focusing on WW I and WW II and the United States military.

He is survived by two brothers, Leslie Reed (Nora) of Ludlow, KY and Barry Reed (Laura) of Menifee County, KY; a sister, Cheryl Niles (Bill) of Erlanger, KY; Larry Banfield and several other cousins; and four nephews and one niece also survive.

Funeral services will be at 1 PM, Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at the Taul Funeral Home Chapel in Frenchburg with Rev. Tim Rhodes officiating and burial following in the Egelston Cemetery.  Friends may visit Wednesday from 12 Noon - 1 pm at the Taul Funeral Home in Frenchburg.  Pallbearers will be David Reed, Shane Reed, Brad Reed, Jason Niles and Jeremy Hedges.  Military rites will be performed by American Legion Post # 22.
