Gloria Jean Lawson Murphy, 81, of Mt. Sterling, KY passed away Monday, December 1, 2025 at The Spires at Berry College-Senior Living Center in Rome, GA.  She was born April 10, 1944 in Frenchburg, KY to the late Floyd C. Lawson, Jr. and Irene Amburgey.  She attended Church of Christ in Camargo, KY and was Legal Aide for over 42 years for Bill Clay and Clay, Williamson and Lane, Attorneys at Law.  She dearly loved watching her grandson grow into manhood.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Murphy, Jr. of Mt. Sterling, KY; a son, Alan Hughes (Jennifer) of Rome, GA; a grandson, Evan Hughes of Rome, GA; a step-son, Paul Murphy, III (Robbin) of Mt. Sterling, KY; and brother, Gary Lawson (Patty) of Mt. Sterling, KY.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Edward Brent Hughes.

A private family service will be held with Rev. Artie Amburgey officiating.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favorite charity in honor of Gloria.
