Obituary

Hannah Lorraine Gillespie Petitt, aka-Lorena, Rennie and Renis Roo, arrived on this earth on Thursday, August 18th, 1938.  She was born the youngest of 12 children to Lura and George Gillespie.  Her parents and siblings all preceded her in death.

She met her knight in shining armor, or rather her knight in white buck shoes and a pink shirt, Millard B. Petitt Jr., while hanging out with friends on her weekly Saturday night outing to town.  He was the cat's meow and he made her heart purr!  And on that very night, she proclaimed to her momma that she had met the man she was going to marry.  And sure enough, she became his bride.  They pledged their love to each other by taking their wedding vows on April 21st, 1955.  For 65 years, they had together a blessed and abundant life.  Their marriage was a covenant between God and them.

Their lives were enriched with three amazing children, Mary Ann, Millard and Kim.  All because two people fell in love.

The circle was broken when God called Jr. home.  Part of her went with Jr. that day and she longed to be with him.  But her plans and God's plans did not align at the time.

Through the next few years, her body became worn and frail.  The Lord saw she was growing tired and weary.

On Thursday, September 5th, 2024, she reached out and took the hand of her Creator and made her entrance into her new home in heaven.  All earthly possessions were abandoned for a robe of white.  Her mansion was ready.  She is now with Jesus and Jr.  But her journey didn't end here.  Her last day on earth was her birthday of eternity.

She was an active member of the Reynoldsville Christian Church and served as secretary/treasury for the Church Women's Group for many years.  She had a servant's heart complimented by her adventurous spirit.

She is survived by her children, Mary Ann Faudere, Millard (Mary Ann) Petitt, and Kim (Doug) Routt, all of Sharpsburg.  Grandchildren, Misty Fair, Gary Dean Faudere, Marcie Cline, Tracie Guise, Mary Brenton Petitt, Daniel Routt and step grandchild, Mary Beth Routt.

Great grandchildren, Sierra Austin, Daphanie Blevins, Drew Fultz, Hannah Faudere, Chase Faudere, Jaxon Cline, Hallie Guise, Macy Cline, Landon Guise, Bentley Routt, Skylar Routt, Night Clark and step great grandchildren McKenzie Wilson, Landon Rogers, Ryder Patton, Sloane Manor, Henslee Jones.  Great great grandchildren, Joshua Austin, Jessie Austin and Brinley Faudere.

In addition to the love of her life, her parents and siblings, she was preceded in death by her son in law, Gary L. Faudere.

What Lorena left behind will never be engraved in a stone monument but will be woven in the hearts of others.  She will participate in every act, thought and decision we make.  She has left an imprint in our memories.  And we will find comfort in knowing our lives have been enriched by having shared her love.

Her spirit will continue to inspire all who had the honor of knowing her.  Her light will shine on in the lives of those she touched with love, warmth and kindness.  RIP dear Lorena.

The family invites loved ones and friends to pay their respects at Taul Funeral Home, Tuesday September 10th, 2024.  Visitation will be at 12:00 noon followed by services at 1:00.  Not to say goodbye but to celebrate her life by sharing soft, sweet memories of the things she left behind.  Interment will be at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Sharpsburg.  Pastor Doug Routt and Pastor Pat Bromagen will be officiating.

Pallbearers will be Millard B. Petitt, Jamie Cline, Justin Clark, Gary Dean Faudere, Daniel Routt and Scott Guise.
