Hazel Gertrude Amburgey, 96, of Mt. Sterling, KY passed away Monday, July 21, 2025 at Windsor Care Center.  She was born February 15, 1929 in Menifee County, KY to the late Sam Powers and Effie Sorrell.  She attended Bethel Baptist Church in Frenchburg, KY and was a member of Christian Workers Club.

She is survived by her sons, Bruce Edward Amburgey (Elaine) of Mt. Sterling, KY, Sam Amburgey (Teresa) of Mt. Sterling, KY and Kenny Amburgey (Rhonda Price) of Louisville, KY; a daughter, Joanne Amburgey of Mt. Sterling, KY; sisters, Helen Cannoy of Middletown, OH and Norma Robinson (Farris) of Springboro, OH; grandchildren, Jordan Amburgey (Maggie), Bryce Amburgey, Scott Amburgey (Jennifer), Kimberly Fannin, Kristie Paynter (Royce), Jessica Amburgey and Zach Amburgey; eight grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Amburgey; brothers, Oren Powers, Edward Powers, Alan Powers and Sam Powers, Jr.; and sisters, Beatrice Williams and Louise Gillespe.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at Taul Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tim Rhodes officiating, burial following at Machpelah Cemetery.  Visitation will be held 1-2 PM, Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at Taul Funeral Home Chapel.  Pallbearers will be Bryce Amburgey, Jordan Amburgey, Scott Amburgey, Alan Handy, Dan Cannoy and Rick Stiltner. Honorary pallbearers will be the Sorrell girls, Ray Amburgey, Joby Amburgey, Jaye Amburgey, Sam Manley and Linda Manley.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bethel Baptist Church, c/o Beulah Land Camp, 926 HWY 36, Frenchburg, KY 40322.
