Iris Fern Combs, 80, of Frenchburg, KY passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at St. Jospeh Hospital Mt. Sterling.  She was born August 9, 1945 in Walled Lake, MI to the late Frank Spencer and Berl Trusty.  She attended Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Mt. Sterling, KY.  She retired from the State of Kentucky as Deputy PVA, she loved to crochet and to collect music boxes.  Iris will be remembered by those who loved her for her smile, her kind and gentle nature, and her faith in the Lord Jehovah.

She is survived by her husband, James B Combs, Jr. of Frenchburg, KY; sons, Troy Cantrell (Jean) of Jeffersonville, KY and Bob Johnson (Alyce) of Wellington, KY; step-son, James Travis Combs of Franklin, OH; step-daughter, Dawn Elizabeth Combs Nicholson (Kevin) of Somerset, KY; eight grandchildren Taylor Combs of Midlothian, TX, Michael Pruitt of Louisville, KY and Gabriel Nicholason of Somerset, KY; three great grandchildren; and excited to be expecting her fourth great grandchild.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Pat Spencer, Larry Spencer and Johnny Spencer; and her sisters, Katie Wayman, Lou Goldsworthy and Nora Herald.

Funeral services will be held 1 PM, Friday, September 12, 2025 at Taul Funeral Home Chapel Mt. Sterling with Melvin Cooksey officiating, burial following at Powers Cemetery.  Visitation will be 12-1 PM, Friday, September 12, 2025 at Taul Funeral Home Chapel.  Pallbearers will be David Ross, Matthew Bush, Steve Spencer, Camden Spencer, James Galloway and Dustin Cantrell.
