James Franklin Boyd, 85, of Mt. Sterling passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at St. Joseph Hospital Mt. Sterling.  He was born October 12, 1936 to the late Carl Best and Hazel Mason Boyd.  He was a member of First United Methodist Church Mt. Sterling, The Methodist Men, Clark Co. Quilt Group, an Engineer and Farmer.  He was an avid quilter and won state awards.

He is survived by his wife, Jessie Campbell Boyd of Mt. Sterling, KY; one daughter, Cindy McKenna (Mark) of Mt. Sterling, KY; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Boyd of Mt. Sterling, KY; a son-in-law, Jim Long of Germantown, OH; one brother, Carl Best Boyd, Jr (Mary) of Franklin, KY; five grandchildren, Joshua Long (Carrie), Melissa Boyer (Josh), Aleisha Ellis (Nate), Dudley Napier (Brooks) and Katie McKenna (Michael); and five great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Buddy Boyd; and one daughter, Kathy Long.

Funeral services will be held 1 PM, Friday, November 12, 2021 at First United Methodist Church Grassy Lick with Rev. Eric Patterson officiating, burial following at Machpelah Cemetery. Visitation will be held 12-1 PM, Friday, November 12, 2021 at First United Methodist Church Grassy Lick.  Pallbearers will be Bobby Caywood, Norbert Allen, Brooks Napier, Josh Long, Nate Ellis and Rick Mattox.  Honorary pallbearers will be The Methodist Men. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First United Methodist Church, 846 Grassy Lick Road, Mt. Sterling, KY 40353.
