Jane Thompson Johnson, 93, of Mt. Sterling passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at Sterling Meadows Assisted Living.  She was born July 9, 1930 in Graham, NC to the late Charles Thompson II and Lily Ray.   Jane lived in Mt. Sterling for 12 years, previously residing in South Charleston, WV.  She attended the Mt. Sterling First United Methodist Church.  She loved spending time with her family and friends.  She had an outgoing personality and loved to interact with everyone she met.  Jane was not a stranger to anyone for very long with countless friends.

She loved to paint throughout her life and became a well-known local artist, appearing in the local media outlets several times.  She loved music and never turned down an opportunity to dance.  She enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, and displayed a superhuman endurance when it came to shopping.

She is survived by a son, Rob Johnson (Suzanna) of Mechanicsville, VA; daughters, Leigh Williams (Gary) of Mt. Sterling, KY and Ashley Nestmann (David) of Charleston, WV; brothers, Charles C. Thompson, III (Vicky) of North Carolina, Ben Thompson (Cathy) of North Carolina and Bill Thompson (Victoria) of North Carolina; grandchildren, Sam Johnson (Erin), Lacey Charles (Jayde), Von Green (Wheeler), August Nestmann and Kai Nestmann; and great grandchildren, Wells Johnson, Jude Johnson, Makayla Charles and Natalie Charles.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Harry Roswell Johnson; brother, Richard Thompson; and sisters, Esther Pike, Betty Love and Mary Ann Thompson.

A memorial service will be held 12 PM, Saturday, March 16, 2024 at the Mt. Sterling First United Methodist Church.  Visitation will be held 11AM—12 PM at the Mt. Sterling First United Methodist Church. Honorary pallbearers will Kai Nestmann, Sam Johnson, Jayde Charles, Wheeler Green, August Nestmann and David Tackett.  In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to Mt.
