Obituary

Jeralynn Jo Greenwade Walker, 64, peacefully entered her eternal home on February 23, 2025, under the compassionate care of Bluegrass Care Navigators at the UK HealthCare hospice unit. Her loving husband of 41 years, Roger, and family were by her side as she crossed the finish line and ended the battle with her neurological disorder which she fiercely fought for many years.

JoJo was born on June 3, 1960, in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky to Jerald C. and Dorothy Amburgey Greenwade. She proudly boasted that Mt. Sterling was her home where she had a large family and could name relatives close and distant. She was a graduate of Montgomery County High School participating in choir and various sports. Following graduation, she worked with local community grocery stores for 18 years.

She married her husband, Roger A. Walker, on February 10, 1984, and their life became an adventure, traveling many miles on their Harley Davidson. She absolutely loved sitting behind Roger as they traveled around the U.S. Some of their favorite travels were Wisconsin, New Orleans, Maryland, Niagara Falls, North and South Carolina. JoJo insisted you haven't enjoyed the sights and smells of the countryside until you have experienced it from riding a motorcycle.

JoJo was known for her love of people, strong will, opinionated spirit, and fierce unwavering loyalty to those she loved. She enjoyed dining out and visiting friends, competitive card games and chess. You can be sure to be awakened early on your birthday with JoJo being the first to sing Happy Birthday; followed by the question of whether she was the first to call. JoJo simply loved everyone.

She has been a long-time member of the Church of Christ having been baptized on July 11, 1971, in the Camargo Church of Christ where she attended until transferring to Rolling Hills Church of Christ in Mt. Sterling. Besides the Sunday worship services at Rolling Hills, she especially loved being accepted and loved by the group of ladies participating in their weekly Digging Deep Bible study.

JoJo is survived by her husband, Roger; her siblings, Sheila G. Myers (Curtis); Tina G. Garland; Aunt Janet G. Amburgey (John); Aunt Janice Amburgey Meyer (Kenneth); Uncle Robert H. Amburgey, Jr. (Donna). Her nephew, Wade Myers; her nephew, Jared Garland (Jessica, children: Clay and John Patrick); her nephew, Drew Myers (children: Briana and Cole); her nephew, Jacob Garland (Ashley, children: McKinley and Bentley); her niece, AnnMarie Johnson (Austin, daughter: Ryan Grace); her nephew, Joseph Garland (Emily). Along with a lot of close loving cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerald and Dorothy Greenwade; her maternal grandparents, Robert H. and Josephine Amburgey; her paternal grandparents, Ellis and Geraldine Greenwade; her brother-in-law, Gregory S. Garland.
