Joel R. Hennessee, 90, of Mt. Sterling passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024 at his residence.  He was born January 2, 1934 in Winnsboro, S.C. to the late William L. and Leila Mathers Hennessee.  He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Kiwanis, and US Army Reserves.  He retired from J.C. Penney's as the Manager.

He is survived by a son, Joel B. Hennessee (Sherrie) of Mt. Sterling, KY; daughter, Teresa Jumper of Tifton, GA; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann Gantt Hennessee; a daughter, Lisa Coyle; brothers, William L. Hennessee, Jr., Harris Hennessee and Lindsey Hennessee; and sisters, Rae Weaver and Ruby Howard.

Funeral services will be held 1 PM, Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Taul Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jennifer Powell officiating.  Visitation will be held 11 AM – 1 PM, Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Taul Funeral Home Chapel.  A private family burial will be held at a later date.
