John Thomas Poff, 82, of Mt. Sterling, KY passed away Sunday, April 26, 2026 at The Willows, Lexington, KY.  He was born February 19, 1944 in Fort Scott, KS to the late Herb Poff and Thelma Bradshaw.  He attended Gateway Christian Church, was a people person and loved spending time with his family.  He worked for Hawker Beechcraft.

He is survived by a son, Flint Sager Poff (Teri) of Wichita, KS, daughter, Johnna Lygrisse (Justin) of Mt. Sterling, KY; a sister, Helen "Queenie" Malcolm (Steven) of Sanford, NC, grandchildren, Brianna Schulte (Ian Phillips), Jesse Schulte (Kendra Eads), Brandon Spencer, Kyle Spencer (Devan), Kevin Powell, Anabelle Lygrisse and Ryker Lygrisse; seven great grandchildren; and he was blessed with many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jana Lynn Poff; a daughter, Lee Anna Spencer; brothers, Charles Poff and Chuck Swan; and sisters, Patti Jolley and Emelie Jo Callender.

A Celebration of life will be held 6:30 PM, Friday, May 1, 2026 at Gateway Christian Church, 801 Winchester Road, Mt. Sterling, KY with Rev. Bill Kilgore officiating.  A Celebration of Life will also be held 6:30 PM, Friday, May 8, 2026 at West Ridge Community Church, 7315 W. 13th Street N, Wichita, KS, 67212 with Rev. David Mitchell officiating. A Graveside service will be held 2 PM, Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Scott County Cemetery, 1253-1385 S Kansas Road, Scott City, KS 67871 with Rev. Ron Kocher officiating.  Please wear jeans with a purple shirt or something colorful.
