Johnny James Baker, 79, of Mt. Sterling, KY passed away Thursday, October 16, 2025 at St. Joseph Hospital Main in Lexington, KY.  He was born October 6, 1946 in Pike County, KY to the late James H. Baker and Georgia Casey Baker Turner.  He attended Church of God and was a Coal Miner for McMining, LLC.

He is survived by his wife, Shelby Baker of Mt. Sterling, KY; a son, Johnny James Baker, Jr. (Talya Renee) of Winchester, KY; a step-son, Scott Tackett (Leslie) of Hazard, KY; a daughter, Kathy Baker Walker of Cynthiana, KY; step-daughters, Angela Peluso (Christopher) of DeMossville, KY and Tracey Hagan of Georgetown, KY; a brother, Daryl Baker (Charlene) of Wellington, KY; a sister, Leatta Pyle (Russell) of Canton, MI; grandchildren, Devon Dotson, Chasity Holzapfel (Derik), Donovan Tackett, Tyler Hagan, Kobe James Baker, Justin Peluso, Katie Peluso, Jordan Peluso, Jacob Peluso, Christen Peluso, Joshua Peluso (Ciara) and Tiffany Rowe (Wilson); and seven great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Diann Ferrell.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, October 23, 2025 at Taul Funeral Home Chapel Frenchburg, KY, burial following at Big Woods Church Cemetery.  Visitation will be 12-2 PM, Thursday, October 23, 2025 at Taul Funeral Home Chapel Frenchburg, KY.  Pallbearers will be Chris Peluso, Justin Peluso, Jordan Peluso, Jacob Peluso, Devon Dotson and Tyler Hagan.
