Joseph A. Martin, 80, of Mt. Sterling passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at the VA Hospital Lexington.  He was born November 5, 1943 in Sharpsburg, KY to the late Elgin B. Martin and Opal Roberson.  He attended Bethesda Church, Mt. Sterling, KY and served in the Army National Guard.  He was the owner of Hozay's Restaurant and Bar.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Moore Martin of Mt. Sterling, KY; son, Joseph Martin (Loretta) of Mt. Sterling, KY; daughter, Tammy Lockridge of Mt. Sterling, KY; brother, Dean Martin of Mt. Sterling, KY; sister, Linda Highley (Gary) of Olympia, KY; grandchildren, Levi Martin, Josh Martin, Erica Caldwell, Lance Lockridge, Emily Martin and  Little Rex Martin; and great grandchildren, Carsyn Martin, Brooklyn Lockridge, Julianna Powell, Jordan Caldwell, Gunner Caldwell and Delaney Caldwell.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sons, Tony Martin and Rex Martin; brother, Marion Martin; and sister, Majorie Updike.

Funeral services will be 4 PM, Sunday, May 5, 2024 at Taul Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Prather officiating.  Visitation will be held 2-4 PM, Sunday, May 5, 2024 at Taul Funeral Home Chapel.  Pallbearers will be Joseph D. Martin, Lance Lockridge, Josh Martin, Gordon Williams, Levi Martin, Owen Ockerman and Little Rex Martin.  Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Harvey.   In lieu of flowers, donation can be made toward his funeral expenses at Taul Funeral Homes, 109 East Main Street, Mt. Sterling, KY 40353.
