Katherine Akin Kimbrell, 100, of Mt. Sterling passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Windsor Care Center.  She was born February 20, 1925 in Clark County, KY to the late Ernest Blackwell and Emma Cooper.  She attended Emmanuel Baptist Church for 40 years and she retired after 25 years at Lexington Bluegrass Army Depot.  She loved to read, shopping with friends and spending time with family.

She is survived by a daughter, Wynoaka Coons (Clarence) of Mt. Sterling; grandchildren, David Coons (Tashnell), Stephen Coons and Jeffrey Coons; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Kimbrell; a daughter, Vicki Kimbrell Miller; four brothers; five sisters; and one great grandchild, Matthew Wade Coons.

A graveside services will be held 1 PM, Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at Machpelah Cemetery in the Memorial Chapel.  Pallbearers will be Steven Wade Coons, Cody Coons, David Coons, Lantz Coons and Eli Coons.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church, PO Box 631, Mt.
