Larry Glenn
Vivian
Jun 17, 1952 — Sep 10, 2023
Larry Glenn Vivian, age 71, of Mount Sterling, KY and Sebring, FL passed away peacefully Sunday, September 10, 2023, in a serene location close to where he was born and raised on the Levee Road in Mount Sterling. Born on June 17th, 1952, to the late Virgil C. and Susie Kate (Reddix) Vivian, Larry lived a life travelling and seeing the world as only few get to do while proudly serving the United States Military. He first enlisted in US Marine Corp in September of 1969 until 1972 and then served in the US Army from 1975 until his retirement as a Master Seargent in 1992.
He was youngest of thirteen children all of which preceded him in death. While Larry was a loyal friend and family member to his family of origin, he made a choice to take on new roles of loving husband, bonus father and grandfather when he married the love of his life Marcelle (Murphy) on February 5, 2000. It is often said that we should like people because of all their qualities, and love people despite some of their qualities. Larry lived by these words, showing unconditional love to all.
After retiring from the military in 1992, Larry continued his career working at Vivian Contractors with his brother Tommy. While serving his country was fulfilling; nothing was more important to Larry than family, God, and friendship. He may be gone from this earth, but he will never be forgotten by those who accompanied him in his journey throughout life. This included those that spent time with him on the boat fishing, on the golf course, and especially his wife, family, and closest friends.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by four sisters, Pauline (Richard) Holzerland, Virginia (John) Corman, Francis (Elijah) Combs and Juanita (Tommy) Vandergrift. He was also preceded in death by eight brothers, Virgil Clay (Martha) Vivian, Carl Ray (Wanda) Vivian, David (Ann) Vivian, Tommy (Sharon) Vivian, Gary (Sandy) Vivian, Jimmy (Dorothy) Vivian and Arnold and Eugene Vivian who both died as infants. Larry was also preceded in death by his infant son Larry Glenn Vivian II who died in January of 1977.
Larry is survived by his wife Marcelle, two special daughters he loved as his own Jennifer Campbell and Caroline (Orrie) Canham and three adored grandchildren Thomas Price Campbell, Haysten Kelly Canham, Lynlee Grace Canham and a special sister-in-law Dorothy Vivian.
He also leaves behind a host of special nieces and nephews in addition to many dear friends from near and far to cherish his memory.
Larry will be remembered for his fishing stories, unwavering loyalty to his family and special times spent with his wide array of friends. He lived a full life and left this world a better place than he found it in more ways than one.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 14th at 1pm at Taul Funeral Home Chapel with the burial following at Machpelah Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11am until the time of the funeral. Pastor Ron Cantrell will be presiding.
The Pallbearers will be Milliard Anderson, Danny Parker, Rick Oldfield, Shane Oldfield, Monty Vivian, and Marty Vivian. Honorary Pallbearers will be Beverly Carpenter, Calvin Collins, Ralph Hensley, Larry Terrell, Bob McChesney, Neil Padgett, Travis Bailey, and Orrie Canham. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Saint Claire Hospice at 222 Medical Circle Morehead, KY 40351.
