Lois Lorene Barnes, 81, born on July 6, 1940 in Clay City, peacefully departed this world on August 8, 2021, to rejoin her husband, Roscoe Barnes.
Lorene, a long time resident of Quisenberry Road in Mt. Sterling was a hard working farm wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She loved to plant things and had an amazing green thumb to make them grow. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Shelton Snowden and Naomi Rogers Snowden; her husband of 56 years, Roscoe Barnes; and one brother, Arnold Bruce Snowden.
Lois Lorene Barnes is survived by one daughter, Lois Ann Barnes-Bailey (Jason) of Mt. Sterling and a son, Nila Roscoe Barnes, Jr (Melissa) of Sharpsburg; and two grandchildren, Ashley Nicole Ann Snyder and Nila Roscoe "N.R." Barnes, III. Also surviving are three brothers, Gary Snowden (Billie, deceased) of Clay City; Rodney Snowden (Donna) of Jeffersonville; Frank Snowden (Edna) of Clay City; three sisters, Joyce Burnett (Orban) of Stanton, Betty Sue Townsend (Roy, deceased) of Clay City; Brenda Tipton (Terry) of Stanton; and one sister-in-law, Peggy Snowden-Hall (Jim) of Lexington. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 1 PM, Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Taul Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Steve Meadows officiating, burial following at Longview Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6-8 PM, Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Taul Funeral Chapel. Pallbearers will be Cameron Snowden, Jeremy Bailey, JR Bailey, Thomas Griffin, Michael Snowden, Danny Willoughby, Matthew Snowden and Jason Todd. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Burnett, Tony Snowden, Devin Snowden, Josh Snowden, Mike Orme, Barry Follett, Pete Follett, Brandon Snowden, Steve Smathers, Lonnie Morgan and Kevin Tipton.
The Family request mask be worn at visitation and funeral.
