Mary Alice Prater, 100, of Mt. Sterling passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Windsor Care Center.  She was born September 28, 1921 to the late Beckham and Gracie Howard Jenkins.  She was a member of United Baptist Church.  Mary Alice was a loving mother and grandmother who spent her life working hard and being a devoted Christian.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and watching WJLC.  She was loved by many and always had great stories to tell.

She is survived by a son, Elmer Prater (Brenda) of Mt. Sterling, KY; two daughters, Margaret Snyder (Ed) of Trinton, OH and Opal Timme of Mansfield, OH; three daughter-in-laws, Betty Prater, Reva Prater and Linda Mullins; a brother, J.D. Jenkins of Salyersville, KY; two sisters, Lucy Culbertson (Bill) of Salyersville, KY and Hazel Carris of Dayton OH; seventeen grandchildren; and thirty-seven great grandchildren; and twenty-eight great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Prater; four sons, Buford Prater, Glenn Prater, Elden Prater and Gary Prater; and three brothers.

Funeral services will be held 1 PM, Sunday, October 3, 2021 at Taul Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tim Jenkins officiating, burial following at Prater Family Cemetery.  Visitation will be held 11 AM-1PM, Sunday, October 3, 2021 at Taul Funeral Home Chapel.    The family requests that all people attending the services please wear a mask at this time.
