Obituary

Mary Sue Rogers of Mt. Sterling (age 84 and 364 days) went to be with her Lord on Friday, July 12, 2024 in Winchester, Kentucky.  The daughter of Fred and Mary Frances Cartmill she was born on July 13, 1939. A seamstress by trade and passion she sewed clothing from her youth until her eyesight began to fail only two years ago. She loved word games and reading. She worked at Cowden sewing jeans in her youth and was a home maker afterward. She is proceeded in death by 2 brothers, Earnest and Rodney, and two sisters, Freida and Anna. She also lost her daughter Susan, and her husband Shirley Rogers last year. She is survived by her sister Patsy Chaffins, of Mt. Sterling, son James Adrian Stevens, Jr. of St. Louis, MO and daughter Norita Frances (Meadows) Hissong (spouse, Glenn Hissong) of Mount Vernon, OH. She is also survived by 11 step children and their children, all of whom she loved dearly and would share stories about. A woman of immense faith in Christ she attended True Life Community Church of the Nazarene since it's earliest days in Mt. Sterling where she sang in choir, taught Sunday school, and lead lessons about missionaries. Her love has touched so many in our community. Please join us to celebrate her with services to be held at Taul Funeral Home at 1 pm Tuesday, July 16, 2024 officiated by Rev. Paula Smith.
