Mary Elizabeth Hogue Wise, 83, of Mt. Sterling, KY, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2026.

Born on April 23, 1943, in Danville, to the late Mary Elizabeth Powell Hogue and Fred Herbert Hogue. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be remembered for her unwavering kindness, loyalty, sense of humor, and being an avid Cincinnati Reds fan. She attended First Baptist Church in Mt. Sterling. Mary’s lifelong love for Jesus was at the heart of who she was, and she instilled that same faith in her family.

Mary is survived by her husband of 65 years, Clyde Wise; their children, Lea Prewitt (Omar), Nancy Springer (Jimmy), and Bruce Wise (Kelli); eight grandchildren, Maggie (Arthur) De Saint Etienne, Elizabeth (Tami) Aderoba, Omar (Mackenzie) Prewitt, Ryan Springer, Will (Rachel) Wise, Claybrooke (Michael) Stafford, Janie (Clark) Frye, and Paul (Benton) Wise; and twelve great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Taul Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling, with visitation starting at 10:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Sterling Community Food Coalition.
