Meredith "Mert" Knox Reynolds, 81, died Monday afternoon October 19, 2020 at his home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barsha Tipton Reynolds and a sister, Phyllis Reynolds Iker.  Mert is survived by his children Ann Whitney Garner (Allen) and John Reynolds (Kara).  He is also survived by five grandchildren, Abigail Cooper Garner, Andrew Garner, Patrick Garner, Camille Reynolds, Adeline Reynolds and one brother, Howard Reynolds.  A lifelong resident of Mt. Sterling, Mert was born June 3, 1939, the son of the late Emmitt and Clarice Reynolds.  He was a US Navy veteran and worked for many years at GTE Sylvania in Winchester.  Prior to a massive aneurysm in 1999, he was very active and enjoyed long bike rides, fishing, church league basketball and playing golf.  Mert was a wonderful, devoted husband, father and great friend.  The family ask that in lie of flowers, that gifts be made to First Christian Church Mt. Sterling, 222 West Main Street, Mt. Sterling, KY 40353. A private family memorial service is planned.  Taul Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.
