Nancy Marie
Roberts
Nov 16, 1934 — Jan 6, 2026
Nancy Marie (Turley) Roberts, affectionately known as Marie, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at the age of 91. Born to Iva Mary Turley and Stanley Turley on November 16, 1934, in Donaldson, Kentucky, and raised by Halie (Keller Kindred) Doane and Richard Clay Doane. She married William Carroll Roberts on June 6, 1952 shortly after graduating high school. Marie dedicated her life to nurturing and caring for others, both professionally as a licensed practical nurse and personally as a loving mother and grandmother.
Marie's career in nursing spanned several decades, providing compassionate care until her retirement at 73. She was a proud alumnus of St. Francis Nursing School and spent her working years committed to the health and well-being of her patients.
A woman of deep faith, Marie was a long-time member of Camargo United Methodist Church, where she contributed generously. Her life was a living example of kindness and devotion to both her faith and her community.
Marie's early years were filled with fond memories. As a child, she went every Saturday morning to visit the Morgans, whom she adopted as her grandparents. She would watch Mrs. Morgan make her weekly cakes, eagerly awaiting a spoonful of cake batter from each one. While she sat on the porch swing, Mr. Morgan would tell her stories. They would also take her into town by horse and buggy; her father would give her a nickel to buy a candy bar when she went to town. Growing up near the railroad tracks, Marie would run to greet the train every time she heard its whistle, waving enthusiastically to the conductor, who would toot his horn and wave back. She learned how to have a giving heart while watching her mother feed the homeless who jumped off the trains as they passed through. A true tomboy, Marie spent her days playing in the fields and exploring with her dog, ensuring she was home before dark. Her chores included churning butter every Saturday—though she wasn't fond of it—dusting, feeding the chickens, and collecting eggs.
Marie's personality was marked by her humor and generosity. She was a cherished mother to her two sons, Michael and Ronald, and a loving mother-in-law to Deborah (Robbins) Roberts and RaeJean (Pipes) Roberts. Her joy multiplied with her five granddaughters Erica (Thayer) Olivarez, Rachael (Roberts) Lewis, Carlye Roberts, Kelly (Roberts) Farrell, Melissa (Roberts) Boyle, and Erin Roberts, and extended further to her 12 great-grandchildren and 3 great-greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, and sisters.
Beyond her family and career, Marie had a rich life filled with hobbies that included gardening and collecting antiques. She was also an avid traveler, exploring places from Guatemala to Alaska and Hawaii.
Services to honor and celebrate her life will be held at Taul Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling, KY at 1 PM, Monday, January 12, 2026. Visitation will be held 11 AM-1 PM, Monday, January 12, 2026 at Taul Funeral Home Chapel. The family kindly requests that contributions be made to her beloved church, Camargo United Methodist Church, in lieu of flowers.
Marie's legacy of love, laughter, and service will continue to inspire those who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.
