Pearl Marie
Murphy
Jan 29, 1930 — Feb 12, 2025
It is with both heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a long and full life that we announce the passing of Pearl Marie Murphy on February 12, 2025, at the age of 95. Pearl was born to Henry and Lula Short on January 29, 1930. She was raised in West Liberty, KY and was a lifetime resident of her family farm on the Levee Rd. in Mt. Sterling, KY.
She embraced the simplicities as well as the adversities of farm life, always putting the well-being and needs of her children and other family members above her own. She will be remembered as a hard worker inside and outside the home, avid gardener, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and overall genuine human being.
Widowed at a young age, Pearl remained the pillar of unwavering strength and devotion for her family up until her passing where she was surrounded by her loved ones. While her earthly presence will undoubtedly be missed, there is so much peace in knowing she is now in heaven reunited with her husband James and all the other family and friends that went before her.
Pearl raised her children to appreciate cooking, family and a tireless commitment to hard work. Her resilient spirit, as well as her unfiltered honesty, will be missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her.
Finally, Pearl was steadfast to the core. Her love for her family and relentless concern for the wellbeing of her children was nothing short of inspirational to all who knew her. We have found so much peace in the words found in Proverbs 31:10-31which details the characteristics of a "wife of noble character" who is hardworking, caring, and provides for her household with diligence and love. This is how Pearl Murphy will be remembered.
Besides her parents, Pearl was preceded in death by her husband James Clifford Murphy and her two brothers Arnold Short and Charles Short. She is survived by her five children Linda Oldfield, (Mike Swacke), Marcelle Vivian, Jimmy Murphy, Barbara Sue Murphy and Roger Murphy. She had eight grandchildren Ricky (Geraldine) Oldfield, Shane (Sandy) Oldfield, Jennifer Campbell, Caroline (Orrie) Canham, Elizabeth Dzubak, David Dzubak, Deana Murphy Ledford and Megan Murphy along with 13 great-grandchildren whom she adored.
Visitation for Pearl Murphy will be held at Taul Funeral Home on Monday, February 17th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM with the funeral immediately following. The burial will be at Machpelah Cemetery. Taul Funeral Home is overseeing all arrangements. Pallbearers will be Ricky Oldfield, Shane Oldfield, Price Campbell, Mike Swacke, Orrie Canham, David Dzubak. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to UK St. Claire Hospice.
