Phillis Lynn Gilvin, age 65, passed away unexpectedly on December 13, 2023 at her home in Montgomery County.  Phillis was born on September 29, 1958.  She was the youngest daughter of Myrtle and Ernie "Bill" Ferguson.

In her early years, Phillis traveled extensively with her family from one Army post to another.  Her travels included three years in Germany.  After the family settled in Mt. Sterling, Phillis became a proud Trojan and was a member of the last graduating class of Mt. Sterling High School.  Phillis was also a member of Mt. Sterling Gateway Christian Church and was a Kentucky Colonel.

Mrs. Gilvin was an avid reader and homemaker that loved baking and candy making for her family and friends.  However, Phillis was first and foremost and animal lover.  She and her husband, Terry had dogs, cats, fish, turtles, love birds, etc. at their home in the country.  Phillis especially loved her dogs.  Her precious Morkie Max crossed the rainbow bridge shortly before her own death.

Phillis was preceded in death by her husband Terry Gilvin, her parents, Myrtle and "Bill" Ferguson, her sister, Wilma Jean Ferguson, her father-in-law, Earl Gilvin, a nephew, Brian Gilvin and a special great niece, Elizabeth Grace Burton.

Mrs. Gilvin is survived by her step-daughter, Monica Gilvin, her sister, Arlene Burton, her nephew, Jim Burton (Phillip), nieces, Lisa Ann Burton and April Gilvin Prater, mother-in-law, Katherine Gilvin and brother-in-law, Earl Clay Gilvin.

Visitation for Phillis will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Gateway Christian Church followed by a Memorial service at 11AM, with Pastor Bill Kilgore officiating.  Interment will be at Machpelah Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest donations to Love of Paws, 1122 Bunker Hill Road, Mt. Sterling, KY 40353.
