Obituary

Regina Kay Oney, 54, of Lexington, KY passed away Saturday, January 4, 2025 at her residence.  She was born August 12, 1970 in Mt. Sterling, KY to the late Victor and Margaret "Iona" Arnett Oney.  Regina was a faithful member of the First African Baptist Church in Lexington, KY where she served as a faithful youth leader.  She had an unwavering commitment and dedication to her church and church family.  She was truly inspiring to all who knew her.  She was the Assistant Director, Division of Quality Living in Frankfort, KY and was a Kentucky State Employee for 31 years.  She graduated from Kentucky State University (1999), receiving a Masters of Public Administration (MPA), Human Resources Management and Services and also graduated from Morehead State University (1993), receiving a Masters in Sociology.

She is survived by her daughter, Mikiah Lauren Oney of Lexington, KY, Mikiah is attending Transylvania University; a brother, Donald Ray Oney (Roberta) of Mt. Sterling, KY; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Earl Oney.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Taul Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Nathl Moore and Mikiah Oney officiating, burial following at Machpelah Cemetery.  Visitation will be 4-6 PM, Monday, January 13, 2025 at Taul Funeral Home Chapel.  Pallbearers will be Jason Oney, Josh Oney, Rob Donaldson, Barry Frazier, Tyrone Harris and Jaxsen Oney.  Honorary pallbearer will be Shane Oney.
