Robert C. Ovington, 87, of Sharpsburg passed away Saturday, May 27, 2023 at his residence.  He was born September 4, 1935 in Powell Co., KY to the late Charles W. and Jeanette Wiser Ovington.  He was a member and also an Elder of First Christian Church Bethel, KY.  He was the Chamber of Commerce Man of Year.

He was survived by a son, Daren Ovington (Teresa) of Sharpsburg, KY; daughter, Roberta Gilbert (Jim) of Mt. Sterling, KY; brother, Charlie Ovington (Nancy) of Flemingsburg, KY; sister, Dottie Chaney of Stanton, KY; grandchildren, Beverly McDonald (Jason) and Michael McCormick (Megan); great grandchildren, Landon Cord, Gracen Cord, Noah McCormick and Samantha McCormick; and a special niece, Liz Ovington.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Chester Ovington and Harry Ovington; sister, Nancy Jones; and a special nephew, Bryan Matthew Ovington.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at Taul Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lowell Rice officiating, burial following at Longview Cemetery.  Visitation will be held 5-8 PM, Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Taul Funeral Home Chapel.  Pallbearers will be Michael McCormick, Darrell Ovington, Tony Thompson, Chuckey Ramey, Danny Gray, Jayston Taylor, Garry Chaney and Phillip Shields.  Honorary pallbearers will be Landon Cord, Liz Ovington, Johnny Jones, Jim Gilbert, Tony Wilson, BJ Ross, Shane Bowman and Eli Johnson.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made St. Claire Hospice, 222 Medical Circle, Morehead, KY 40351 or First Christian Church, 518 Bethel Ridge Road, Sharpsburg, KY, 40374.
