Roger Allen Toy of Mt. Sterling, KY passed away Friday evening, November 14, 2025. In life, Roger was widely known as a local business owner who, at varying stages of his career, worked at, operated and owned Toy's KY Food Store for over 40 years. He was almost equally well known for his longstanding membership in and active participation with the Mt. Sterling Lion's Club.

For decades, Roger brought laughter and smiles to the people of Mt. Sterling, whether through his onstage antics at the annual Lion's Club Follies, by mention of a nickname he'd given you years ago, or retelling one of his many stories among family and friends. Roger had a passion for motorcycles and was an avid fan of all things Harley Davidson.

Above all, Roger loved his family, friends, and the community he served. His impact on us - unique to each that he knew - cannot be captured in a paragraph but at the same time can't be overstated.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents Claude Toy, Jr. and Mary Francis Toy, sister Judith Hart, son-in-law Matt Brinegar, and close friends Ralph and Betty Toy. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Toy, brother Claude Raymond "Buddy" Toy, daughters Erica Toy Harvey (Philip Woodard) and Jennifer Brinegar, son Jeremy Allen Toy (Julia), grandchildren Jonas Toy, Eleanor Toy, Morgan Curtis (Jake Lee), and Jesse Curtis (Ashlee), and special friends Roger and Janna Lyman, Kenny and Louise Toy, and Brandon and Emily Keaton.

Visitation is Tuesday, November 18 at Taul Funeral Homes in Mt. Sterling, KY, 5:00-8:00pm. The funeral is Wednesday, November 19, beginning at Taul Funeral Homes at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Mt. Sterling Lion's Club.
