Sue Loraine Nix, 73, of Mt. Sterling, passed Saturday, August 8, 2020 at her residence. She was born April 6, 1947 to the late James Harrison and Sue Elizabeth Prather Phelphrey. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Sterling and retired after 27 years of teaching at Mapleton Elementary.
She is survived by her husband, Adrian Robert Nix of Mt. Sterling, KY; one son, David Hensley (Danielle) of Mt. Sterling, KY; two daughters, Graceanne Miller (Gary) of Mt. Sterling and Farrah Jane Conn (Doyle) of Mt. Sterling, KY; one sister, Clara Jo Clarborn (Wayne) of Birmingham, AL; two step children, Adrian Nix, Jr. (Tina) of Berea, KY and Melissa Rupe (Wayne) of Richmond, KY; nine grandchildren, Amber Hoskins, Josh Hoskins, Marianne Jones (Caleb), Gabe Miller, Avery Conn, Lily Conn, Kate Conn, Harrison Hensley and Hannah Hensley.
She was a loving and faithful wife of 32 years, beloved sister, mother and grandmother. She was phenomenal elementary school teacher who touched the lives of many children over her career. She also enjoyed singing in the church choir and teaching Sunday school. After she retired, she devoted her time to her grandchildren and her church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate money to the Gideon Bible Fund by contacting the First Baptist Church of Mt. Sterling.
Funeral service will be held, 11 AM, Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at Taul Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Fort and Rev. Grant Cannoy with burial following at Brown Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM, Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at Taul Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Kyle Miller, Adrian Nix, Jr., Caleb Jones, Wayne Rupe, James Clarborn and Eric Patterson. Honorary pallbearers will be Gabe Miller, Harrison Hensley, Gary Miller, Doyle Conn, Josh Hoskins and the Deacons of First Baptist Church.
