Thelma Raye Haddix, 94, widow of Elmo Haddix died July 5, 2024 at Windsor Care Center in Mt. Sterling, KY. She was born Thelma Raye Crase April 21, 1930 in Morgan County, KY to the late Rev. Andy and Lucy Elam Crase. She was a current member of Spring Street Baptist Church, Women's Missionary Union, Homemaker's Club, former member of Camargo Church of God, Gateway Church of God, American Legion was a Kentucky Colonel.
Raye was a lifelong devoted Christian with a servant's heart and strong desire to meet the needs of others. She taught Sunday school for children and teenagers for many years and had been treasurer of the women's Sunday school class. She sang in a gospel quartet; "Echoes of the Gospel" for many years on the radio. She cooked a countless number of meals for the different churches she was associated with until she was in her nineties. She was also a major UK Wildcat fan and loved to garden. She took pride in her flowers and enjoyed showing them off.
Raye leaves behind to mourn her passing, two daughters, Connie (Jim) Wilson and Sharon (Pete) Follett of Mt. Sterling. Two grandchildren; Amy (Jeff) Frazier of Mt. Sterling and Andy (Kaitlynn) Wilson of Hopkinsville, KY. Three great grandchildren; JT Frazier, Haddix Wilson and Miller Wilson.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by seven brothers, and seven sisters including her identical twin.
The family would like to thank the staff at Windsor Care Center and St. Claire Hospice for the kind, compassionate, professional care and family support they provided and special friends Kaye Thacker, Patti Darnell and Bessie Holley.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 PM, Friday, July 12, 2024 at Taul Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor William "Hoss" Prater officiating. Visitation will be held 12 PM-1 PM, Friday, July 12, 2024 at Taul Funeral Home Chapel. Active pallbearers will be Jeff Frazier, JT Frazier, Andy Wilson, Miller Wilson, Vernon Martin, Lonnie Moore and Brent Risner. Honorary pallbearers will be Chuck Vice, Tom Wyant, Steve Parker, Tom Hatton, Paul Hatton, Robert Crase and the Women's Missionary Union.
Contributions may be made to Spring Street Baptist Church Women's Missionary Union at 442 Spring Street, Mt. Sterling, KY 40353-1535.
