Viola Willoughby Ricker, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 13, 2025, at the age of 81. She was surrounded by the love of her devoted husband of 55 years, Bennie J. (B.J.) Ricker, at their home.
Born on April 4, 1943, Viola lived a life full of faith, love, and service to others. A devout Christian, she dedicated herself to her Lord and her family, embodying the true spirit of compassion, kindness, and generosity. Her unwavering faith was a guiding light for all who knew her, and she shared that love with everyone she encountered.
Viola was a proud mother of four children, Geoffery Burgess Sr. (Melissa) of Mt. Sterling, KY, Veronica Burgess Ramsey (Jubal) of Lawrenceburg, KY, Bennie Ricker of Ravenna, OH and Paul Ricker (Christin) of Mt. Sterling, KY. She was blessed with 20 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren, whom she cherished deeply. Her legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren, and numerous international children, who she hosted and loved like her own. She embraced everyone she encountered throughout her life, extending her love and wisdom to many beyond her immediate family.
Viola was preceded in death by her father Elbert Willoughby, mother Mabel Potts Willoughby, her brother Robert Willoughby and her grandson Geoffery Burgess Jr., who remain forever in our hearts. She is survived by her devoted husband, her four children, her grandchildren, great grandchildren, two brothers Raymond and David Willoughby (Theresa), her sister Gloria Sue Staton (Eric), many nieces and nephews, exchange students from all over he world, her beloved cousins, and many friends that she considered family. All were touched by her faith, love, strength, and warmth.
She will be remembered not only for her deep Christian faith but also for the love she gave unconditionally to her family and friends. Viola's kind spirit, gentle nature, and selfless dedication to her loved ones will be profoundly missed.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 17, 2025 from 5 to 7 p.m., family 4 to 5, at Taul Funeral Home in Frenchburg, Kentucky. A memorial service to celebrate her life and legacy will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the same location.
Viola's life was a testament to the power of love, faith, family, and Friendship. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and she will forever be remembered as a beacon of light and love. Her wish in life and death was for all to know Jesus as their Savior.
