William Cecil McCoy, 96, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Friday, March 12, 2021.  Cecil was born in Montgomery County Kentucky on March 1, 1925 to the late Thomas and Della Bernice Rogers McCoy.

Cecil was self employed in the heating and air conditioning business and he was an avid Kentucky Wildcat fan.  He lived a simple life of service to others, a life of extraordinary faith and inner strength.  He loved hard work, always looking to help with even the most difficult tasks.  Up to the end of his life, he continued to offer help to his family with any needs they had.

He was a long time member of Broadway Baptist Church in Lexington, serving as a Sunday School Teacher and singing in the choir.  He was one of the kindest and humblest of God's people.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Anna Florence Bridges McCoy; he was also preceded in death by all his brothers and sisters, Laura McCoy, May McCoy, Virgie Ellis, Eula Pickup, Jeanetta Barnett, Anna Phillips, Marvin Joseph McCoy, Colleen Ball and Shirley McCoy.  He is survived by his daughters, Sherry Slinker (David), Terry Steele (Julian); three grandchildren, Rachel Anne Filiatreau, Jenna Reese Steele and Eli William Steele; plus many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1 PM, Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Taul Funeral Home Chapel, burial following at Lovely and Amburgey Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at 12-1 PM, Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Taul Funeral Home Chapel.  In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bluegrass Care Navigators (Hospice), 1733 Harrodsburg Road, Lexington, KY 40504 or to your favorite charity.
